It is recommended that drivers in Florida consider acquiring additional coverages to be better protected:

 

BIL covers medical costs and other damages resulting from injuries caused to others in an accident for which the insured is responsible.

  • Suggested Minimum Amount: $10,000 per person and $20,000 per accident.
  • What It Covers: Medical bills, legal expenses if a lawsuit is filed, and other costs related to injuries sustained by others.

Pays for damage to your own vehicle resulting from a collision with another vehicle or object.

  • Amount: Depends on the value of the vehicle and the selected deductible.
  • What It Covers: Repairs or the vehicle’s value if it is declared a total loss.

Pays for damages to your vehicle that are not the result of a collision, such as theft, vandalism, fires, floods, or falling objects.

  • What It Covers: Damages resulting from events like those mentioned above.

Protects the insured in case they are hit by a driver who is uninsured or underinsured.

  • Amount: Varies according to the policy purchased.
  • What It Covers: Medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages you incur if you are injured in an accident with an uninsured driver.
